Tutti Frutti

TF 10 House, New Islington, Manchester

2008

Tutti Frutti was a competition run by the RIBA in conjunction with Manchester City Council, New East Manchester, English Partnerships and Urban Splash. The proposed terraced street was inspired by the Borneo Sporenburg Docks development in Amsterdam.

Macdonald Wright’s proposal, TF10, was one of the winning designs selected to form the unique self-build street in New Islington Manchester. The design of the four storey, three bedroom family house utilised passive solar gain principles with high levels of insulation to reduce energy demands to a minimum. Prefabrication techniques were proposed for a fast accurate build on site.
