Crow Barn was designed as a base for managing the operations of the Caring Wood country estate. Given the client’s brief for high sustainability and a landscape scheme which included the planting of 27,500 native hardwood trees, timber was the obvious material choice for construction of the barn. The locally sourced green oak frame was clad with rough sawn spruce.
Adjacent to the barn an 80 m long Haha bank was formed with 240 m² of solar photovoltaic panels to provide 100% of the energy requirements for the estate.
Crow Barn was published in Dezeen in November 2017.
