Founded in 2005 by James Macdonald Wright FRIBA in East London, we are best known for marrying high sustainability with cutting-edge design, while taking inspiration from regional vernacular forms and materials.
Macdonald Wright are experienced team leaders who deliver both their own development projects and those for private clients. We have successfully developed a design process with a flexible structure to ensure that we guide our clients through each step of the process at a manageable pace, making the experience positive, enjoyable, collaborative and relaxed, resulting in innovative, enduring and carefully considered energy efficient homes. Our projects have appeared on television, been published in the UK and globally and have won many awards including the RIBA House of the Year.
Sustainability is a key design consideration on all projects without exception. Tree planting strategies with clients have led to over 30,000 native British trees being planted in the past ten years with Trees for Life, a project to re-wild an area of the Scottish Highlands by enabling the restoration of the globally unique Caledonian Forest which once covered much of Scotland. If you would like to talk to us about your home we ask you to first make a donation of £60 to Trees for Life by planting ten trees in the Macdonald Wright Architects grove. In return we will provide a 60 minute Design Surgery via a Zoom video call to determine how we can help you and if we are a good fit. Please email us to arrange a time and date.
