Wonnacott is a low energy new build three bedroomed house in a mews site in northeast London.
The timber framed and clad house was designed as a self-build project for a carpenter and his family. The design employs a two storey volume facing the mews reinforcing the mews streetscape and garden walls. Accommodation is inverted to improve the views and quality of light to the main living spaces. The gable of the house visible from the entrance of the mews was designed as a reflection of the Parish church gable opposite. The south elevation includes a solar PV wall designed to generate 30% of the energy requirements for the house.
The proposal gained planning consent in 2022.
